Yellowstone National Park - September 2004
Picture gallery here!
This September my friend Justin Henry-Kluender
and I flew N8BB to
Cody, Wyoming for a
two-day visit to Yellowstone
National Park. The route of flight took us from our
departure point near Morgan Hill over Lake Tahoe, across Nevada and
parts of Utah and Idaho, across part of Wyoming and into Cody.
We made a fuel stop in lovely Elko Nevada each way.
Yellowstone
National Park was gorgeous, from the beautiful lakes, forests,
and meadows, to the abundance of wild animals such as bison, elk,
deer, bears, and foxes. I was particularly interested in the
wide range of
geothermal features though.
Old Faithful
We stayed at a motel in downtown
Cody and were within
walking distance of the various restaurants and shops in downtown.
We spent two days in the park itself.
The first day, we visited the West Thumb geyser
basin and the
Upper geyser basin, home of Old Faithful.
Crested Pool
The second day, we visited the
Norris
Geyser Basin, the
Mammoth
Hot Springs area, and the
Yellowstone
Grand Canyon.
