I visited my friend Andrew in Madrid for about a
week.
The day after I arrived, we flew to Barcelona
for the weekend and stayed at a great bed and breakfast there called
Beauty and the Beach.
The B&B was a few minute walk from the beach and to the metro
station. That night we walked along the Rambla, hoisted a few
in a fine Irish pub, then off to dinner. The clubs don't even
open their doors until 1am, so we visited a few more bars & cafes
after dinner. We ended up at
Salvation
that night. Things didn't get going until around 3am and we
stayed until around 7am.
The next day we visited
several of
Gaudi's
creations, including the
Sagrada
Familia and the Casa Museu in Park Guell. After an
excellent dinner prepared for us by Jose Maria and Matt, we ventured
out again and ended up at the Metro disco.
Back in
Madrid, some of the highlights were visiting the
Museo
Thyssen, wandering around the city and finding the old apartment
building where my mom and aunt lived many years ago, as well as
seeing the more prominent landmarks.
We visited some
interesting tapas bars and restaurants around Madrid also.
